Aquawest is proud to be supporting the ongoing irrigation infrastructure upgrade at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, delivering a more efficient and sustainable water management system across the grounds.
The project features a RainBird central control system with a radio-linked network of satellite controllers, allowing precise, remote irrigation control across the zoo’s expansive layout. As part of the upgrade, the mainline is being replaced with durable polyethylene pipe, improving flow efficiency and ensuring long-term system reliability.
Each animal exhibit is undergoing a staged irrigation upgrade in line with broader site improvements. To date, new systems have been installed at the Lion Exhibit, Wild Dog Exhibit, and the Midway Café precinct — ensuring healthy, well-watered landscaping that enhances both animal habitats and visitor experience.
This project highlights Aquawest’s capability in delivering smart, large-scale irrigation systems tailored to complex, evolving environments like zoos, parks, and public facilities.
