Mine Dewatering Pump
Aquawest Dubbo, led by Store Manager and Director James Gibson, recently completed a high-performance deep bore pump installation tailored for challenging mine site conditions.
The pump was installed at a depth of 330 metres, powered by a 1000V, 120kW electric motor, and designed to deliver a minimum of 20 litres per second at over 35 bar (3,500kPa). The system features advanced protection and monitoring, including:
- Flow controllers
- Overload controller
- Level transducer
- Temperature sensors
- 150mm water meter for flow verification and compliance
To manage the 5.6-tonne pump weight, the system was installed on Wellmaster Layflat hose, accommodating a 7-metre expansion during deployment. The site posed additional complexities due to overhead powerlines and uneven terrain near the bore head.
Aquawest also provided onsite project management, coordinating with mining superintendents, contractors, and product managers to ensure all work method statements, checklists, and JSA protocols were followed to the letter.
Completed over the course of a week, this project demonstrates Aquawest’s capability to deliver large-scale, high-pressure bore pump solutions with precision, safety, and full compliance — even in the most demanding environments.
